HAAARCH!!! 2018

HAAARCH!!! is a yearly showcase of undergraduate research, creative work, and achievement. This forum provides students the opportunity to exhibit, present and promote their research and experiential learning activities.

HAAARCH!!! 2018 will take place in the Cloister and University Art Gallery of the Frick Fine Arts Building on March 19, from 4-6 pm.

    Isabella Sigado

    Isabella Sigado is a senior Art History major and Museum Studies Minor. She has previously served as the curatorial intern at the Frick Art and Historical Center as well as the Andy Warhol Museum, gallery intern at Morgan Contemporary Glass Gallery, Undergraduate TA for Special Topics: Museum Studies, and installation volunteer at the Boulder Museum of Modern Art. Currently, Isabella works at the Andy Warhol Museum as their Digital Engagement Intern.

     

    Though her primary focus has always been Contemporary Curation, Isabella’s priority has shifted towards interdisciplinary, specifically technological, interventions in the museum space. She hopes to pursue a career in digital engagement for arts and culture focused institutions following her graduation this April.

    Abigail Sites

    Abigail Sites is a senior majoring in History of Art and Architecture and Anthropology, with a certificate in Russian and Eastern European Studies, specifically a concentration in Ottoman and Turkish art. During her time at Pitt, Abigail has held a variety of positions at museums in the area, including the Heinz History Center; the Fort Pitt Museum; and Fort Ligonier Museum.

    Abigail has spent the last two years of her time at the University of Pittsburgh researching Henry Clay Frick’s homes in Pittsburgh and New York City and their transitions into public museums, particularly the layouts of each museum and how this affects visitor experience. In the Spring of 2017 Abigail was awarded a fully funded research opportunity from the Office of Undergraduate Research where she travelled to New York City to further her knowledge and research with The Frick Collection.  At HAAARCH Abigail will be presenting a portion of her honors thesis, “Henry Clay Frick: From Private to Public”, centering around the aesthetic values of Henry Clay Frick’s homes and their influence on visitors.

    Ben Tushar

    Ben Tushar is an Architectural Studies major with a minor in Studio Arts, and is set to graduate in April, 2018. Ben came to Pitt as an Engineer, with a strong passion and background for developing and building things to solve problems. After being underwhelmed with the amount of physical creation in Engineering, Ben switched to Architectural Studies, with great success. Ben has been involved in multiple extracurricular groups at Pitt, including the American Institute of Architecture Students, the National Society for Leadership and Success, and the Pitt Intercollegiate Snowboard Team. Ben also serves as the Pitt Campus General for SOL Republic Headphones, and spent his summer of 2017 interning at WD Partners, a retail architecture firm in Columbus, Ohio, working for major clients such as Red Bull, Target, Dave and Busters, Shake Shack, and many more. After graduating, Ben plans to find a job in the design field and is currently applying to careers in industries ranging from architecture and product design, to special effects and video game development.

    At HAAARCH!!!, Ben is presenting his Design Studio One project, which brings together his interests in architecture and art, using folding architecture to create a community gallery and education center to revitalize the community of Hazelwood.

    Marina Wei

    Marina Wei is a senior graduating this spring with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts and a minor in Museum Studies. She is currently focused on creating installation art that explores the topics of impermanence and nature. Along with creating installation art, Marina is working at the Mattress Factory as a museum educator. After graduation, she hopes to be able to continue along the path of museum education. At HAAARCH!!! Marina will be presenting on her museum education internship with the Mattress Factory.

    Olivia Zielinski

    Olivia Zielinski is a Junior from Nazareth, PA, majoring in Architectural Studies.  After completing two years in the Biology major, Olivia decided it wasn’t for her and dove head first into the Architecture program, changing her major to architectural studies without having any past experience.  After one semester, she was hooked!  Olivia plans on completing an internship in the summer of 2019 after spending more time within the major.  At HAAARCH!!! Olivia will be presenting her Foundation Studio 1 final project which focused on incorporating previously built public and private pavilions onto a riverside site.
