Crista Sanfilippo

Crista Sanfilippo is a sophomore majoring in History of Art and Architecture with a minor in Studio Arts. Her first encounters with art were at the Okinawa Prefectural Museum of Art, which helped to form her perspective on modern/contemporary art. After entering the University of Pittsburgh, she has pursued the major with the intention of studying more about contemporary art of the world. Upon graduation this upcoming December, Crista plans to take a gap semester and then continue her education with pursuing a Master’s degree.

Crista’s presentation at HAAARCH!!! will be on a small portion of her honors thesis “Contested Lands and Inherited Trauma in the Works of Yamashiro Chikako,” focusing the talk on the message against American military imperialism in her works. The research for her thesis is on-going and will be completed this summer while studying abroad in Japan
