Joanna Kemp

Joanna Kemp is currently a senior at the University of Pittsburgh and will graduate in the spring with a major in The History of Art and Architecture and a minor in Museum Studies. Last spring, she interned with the University Art Gallery, assisting with their educational programming, community outreach, and social media presence. Joanna began working at The Andy Warhol Museum this summer, where she works in the galleries and behind the admissions desk. During this spring semester she has been a teaching assistant for the Encounters Project, which is the basis for her senior thesis. When she is not preparing lesson plans and research for the Encounters Project, she is working with the curator of the University Art Gallery to improve the database used for organizing the works in the permanent collection. After graduation, Joanna will be pursuing a master’s degree in either business administration or museum studies, in hopes of continuing her work in administrative roles at museums or small galleries.

Joanna will be presenting the paper "The Encounters Project: Teaching Art History Outside of The University" at HAAARCH!!! 2014. She will also be presenting as part of the group presentation "Encounters: Art in the City."
