Xiaoyuan (Freda) Zhang is a senior at Pitt double-majoring in History of Art & Architecture and Economics and minoring in Museum Studies. Originally from China, her experience with art as a child motivated her to pursue artistic endeavors once she arrived in the U.S. She became interested in museum work through her studies and plans to pursue a career in the museum field upon graduation. During the summer of 2015, Freda worked as an intern in the education department of Shandong Museum, through which she gained valuable first hand experience in teen and family programs.
Freda’s presentation at HAAARCH!!! will focus on her internship at the Frick Art and Historical Center during the spring of 2017, where she is working on programming for an upcoming major exhibition at the Frick, along with her thoughts on modern artistic practice in a traditional art institute.
