Leslie Rose

Leslie Rose will graduate from Pitt in April 2017 as a History of Art and Architecture major with a minor in Museum Studies. Her research centers on issues of diversity and representation in modern and contemporary art. In the fall of 2016, Leslie worked on an interdisciplinary research project on the Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s Botany Hall with several other colleagues, where she focused on the untold history of the women behind Botany Hall’s dioramas, For this, she curated archival documents and images in an online book using the program Scalar.

Currently, Leslie is conducting an independent research project on the art featured in the Black Panther Magazine, while also serving as a teaching assistant for the HAA/Philosophy course “Digital Humanity” and working as an intern at the Andy Warhol Museum. After graduation, Leslie hopes to complete graduate school and eventually become a museum curator, with the goal of improving the visibility of women and minorities in museums in order to broaden perspectives of both scholars and visitors.
