Yuanjun (Summer) Liu

Yuanjun Summer Liu is a junior at the University of Pittsburgh, pursuing a major in Architecture Studies with a minor in Studio Arts.

She is originally from Hainan, China. She had the opportunity of studying abroad for four years in Singapore. She also studied abroad in the summer of 2014 in Prague, Vienna, Ljubljana, and Zagreb under the supervision of Professor Drew Armstrong. She is currently participating in the HAA 1918 honors studio led by Professor Christopher Guignon, a studio that focuses on sustainable designs and collective housing programs. She has worked with Professor Jozef Petrak as a teaching assistant in the architectural foundation studio. She is now a teaching assistant in Approaches to Built Environment with Professor Mrinalini Rajagopalan. She plans to pursue a Master of Architecture degree following her undergraduate degree.

Yuanjun has broad interests outside of the field of architecture. She interned with Shin Kong-HNA Life in year 2012, and Fangyuan law firm in year 2013. She decides to pursue her education and career in architectual design after much consideration. But all these other experiences will continue to benefit her in future expeditions.

In the summer of 2014 she interned with Unique, a design firm located in Shanghai, China. During which she participated in their Shanghai Disneyland project onsite. She will be joining Unique again in summer 2015 for their Milan World Expo China Pavilion project.

Yuanjun will present her Design Studio 2 final project as a selected architectural study project at HAAARCH 2015. Her design is a response to the delicate question of where do death and life meet and how should architecture convey such connections.
